Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL)

The highest average daily intake likely to pose no risk of adverse health effects for almost all people in a life stage/sex group, set by the National Academy of Medicine. Exceeding a UL is not automatically unsafe for a given individual -- ULs are conservative, population-level thresholds, not a bright line between safe and unsafe.

Example

29.5% of on-market niacin products declare a dose above the adult niacin UL of 35mg NE -- by far the highest share of any compound we track this way.
