- 33.8% of products fall below the fairy-dust threshold (24 mg, 20% of the studied low dose).
- 22.1% of products don't disclose an amount because Hyaluronic Acid is declared inside a proprietary blend.

Search interest over time
How often people search for hyaluronic acid on Google, US only, the last 5 years. This is public interest, not DSLD label data — a spike here doesn't necessarily line up with anything on this page, and Google's own index (100 = that term's peak popularity in the chosen window) is relative, not an absolute search-volume count.

Forms explained
Label discloses only "Hyaluronic Acid" with no salt form or molecular weight.
The sodium salt is the usual commercial raw material, so it is effectively what most oral trials dosed; no human study compared it against free hyaluronic acid, so it is not ranked.
In one RCT both a 2 kDa and a 300 kDa oral HA (120 mg/day) improved wrinkle measures vs placebo, with the 300 kDa arm reaching significance earlier (8 weeks) -- no demonstrated advantage for lower molecular weight, so it is not ranked.

Reference values
- RDA (adult): not established — Endogenous glycosaminoglycan, not an essential nutrient; no RDA/AI exists.
- Tolerable Upper Intake Level (adult): not established — Not established -- no IOM/NASEM UL exists. The verified oral trials (120-200 mg/day for 12 weeks to 12 months) did not frame a safety ceiling; none is claimed here.
- Studied clinical dose range: 120–200 mg
- Oe M et al. 2017, Clin Cosmet Investig Dermatol 10:267-273, PMID 28761365 -- double-blind placebo-controlled RCT, n=60 Japanese adults with crow's-feet wrinkles, 120 mg/day oral HA (2 kDa or 300 kDa mean molecular weight) x12 weeks; wrinkle measures better than placebo, significant for 300 kDa at 8 weeks (authors are Kewpie Corporation employees). Hsu TF et al. 2021, Nutrients 13(7):2220, PMID 34203487 -- RCT, n=40 healthy Asian adults, 120 mg/day x12 weeks; improved wrinkle score, stratum corneum hydration and elasticity vs placebo. Tashiro T et al. 2012, ScientificWorldJournal 2012:167928, PMID 23226979 -- RCT, n=60 knee OA, 200 mg/day x12 months with quadriceps exercise; significant JKOM improvement vs placebo only at months 2 and 4 and only in the <=70-year subgroup.
- Note: Evidence is small and short, and two of the three trials declare Kewpie Corporation employees among the authors. Sodium hyaluronate (the salt) is the usual commercial raw material and "Hyaluronic Acid" labels commonly list it as raw_form; amounts are used as declared. Brand rows (Hyabest, HyaMax, Hyal-Joint) match by fuzzy name. "HA" alone is not aliased (ambiguous). Do not confuse with "Hyaluronidase" (an enzyme).
