- 35.0% of products fall below the fairy-dust threshold (0.6 mg, 20% of the studied low dose).
- 10.0% of products don't disclose an amount because Boron is declared inside a proprietary blend.

Search interest over time
How often people search for boron on Google, US only, the last 5 years. This is public interest, not DSLD label data — a spike here doesn't necessarily line up with anything on this page, and Google's own index (100 = that term's peak popularity in the chosen window) is relative, not an absolute search-volume count.

Forms explained
Label discloses only "Boron" with no salt or source form.
No head-to-head human bioavailability or efficacy comparison of this form was located in PubMed searches.

Elemental fraction: 17.5% (H3BO3, MW 61.83 (B 10.81 / 61.83))
The simple inorganic boron source. No head-to-head human bioavailability or efficacy comparison of this form was located in PubMed searches.
Elemental fraction: 11.3% (Na2B4O7 x 10H2O, borax decahydrate (MW 381.37; anhydrous sodium tetraborate would be 0.215) -- hydration on labels not stated, decahydrate assumed)
No head-to-head human bioavailability or efficacy comparison of this form was located in PubMed searches.
Elemental fraction: 2.5% (Provisional: ~2.5% boron by weight. Matches both the '2.5% providing' note printed on labels and a stoichiometric calculation for Ca[(C6H10O6)2B]2 x 4H2O (2 B / ~846 = 2.55%); formula not independently verified)
Only form with its own human RCT (110mg twice daily for knee discomfort, n=60, industry-affiliated authors); no comparison of boron absorption against other boron forms was located, so no tier is assigned.

Reference values
- RDA (adult): not established — No RDA or AI has been established for boron; the 2001 IOM report (Vitamin A ... Zinc) set a UL only.
- Tolerable Upper Intake Level (adult): 20 elemental mg — 20mg/day for adults 19+ (17mg for ages 14-18), total intake from food, water and supplements (NASEM DRI UL table for elements, from the 2001 IOM report). EFSA set a lower EU UL of 10mg/day for adults (EFSA NDA Panel 2004, in the EFSA UL summary report).
- Studied clinical dose range: 3–10 mg
- Low end: Nielsen FH et al. 1987, FASEB J 1(5):394-7, PMID 3678698 -- metabolic-unit study of 12 postmenopausal women (48-82y) on a low-boron diet (~0.25mg/day); 3mg/day boron markedly reduced urinary calcium and magnesium excretion and raised serum 17-beta-estradiol and testosterone. High end: Naghii MR, Samman S 1997, Biol Trace Elem Res 56(3):273-86, PMID 9197924 -- healthy men, 10mg boron/day x4 weeks; ~84% of the dose recovered in urine (very high absorption), plasma estradiol rose, plasma lipids and LDL oxidizability unchanged. Both are small physiological studies, not clinical-outcome RCTs.
- Note: Labels declare boron in both mg (2,227 rows) and mcg (1,179 rows). Calcium fructoborate rows declare the weight of the complex (typically 112-220mg), not elemental boron (about 2.5% B); a human RCT used 110mg calcium fructoborate twice daily for knee discomfort (Pietrzkowski Z et al. 2014, Clin Interv Aging 9:895-9, PMID 24940052; n=60, industry-affiliated authors). Boron-containing amino-acid analogues sold in sports products (S-(2-boronoethyl)-L-cysteine, 2(S)-amino-6-boronohexanoic acid) are not dietary boron and are not aliased here.
